SUMMARY:Business and Government Forum-Vaccination Mandates by Employers: The Health Implications\, Laws and Exemptions
DESCRIPTION:With over 30% of Massachusetts residents still unvaccinated\, many companies are considering moving to a vaccine mandate to make their work places safer for other employees and clients.  While the Federal Government is currently working on a mandate for companies with a over 100 employees\, many are still unsure about the laws that govern employers with less than 100 employees.  Further\, what exemptions exists and what kind of documentation will be required to fall under an exemption.\n\n\n\nPlease join us this very important and timely discussion with Dr. Richard Ellison of UMass Memorial and Labor and Employment Attorney D.M. Moschos of Seder Law as we dig into the health implications and law surrounding a vaccine mandate.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRichard T. Ellison\, MD\n\n\n\nDr. Ellison is Professor of Medicine\, Microbiology and Physiological Systems at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and is Hospital Epidemiologist for UMass Memorial Medical Center.\n\n\n\nDr. Ellison received his medical degree in 1977 from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his residency in internal medicine at Rhode Island Hospital  and fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Colorado in Denver. He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Following his fellowship\, Ellison joined the faculty in the department of medicine at the University of Colorado in 1984 and came to the University of Massachusetts in 1991.\n\n\n\nDr. Ellison has written more than 55 peer-reviewed reports along with 41 invited papers and book chapters. Since 1998 he has written for NEJM Journal Watch Infectious Diseases and has been Editor-in-Chief since 2016. He served as president of the Massachusetts Infectious Disease Society from 1998 to 2001.\n\n\n\nDr. Ellison has served on numerous internal hospital and medical school committees\, including those related to pharmacy\, critical care\, patient safety and risk management\, biosafety\, emergency management\, and infection control\, as well as resident selection\, graduate medical education. He has also served on multiple advisory committees for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nD.M Moschos\, Esq.\n\n\n\nMr. Moschos is Of Counsel at Seder & Chandler\, practicing in the firm?s Labor & Employment\, Litigation\, Education & Corporate Law Groups. He is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers which includes the leading labor lawyers in the United States. He serves as labor counsel for various private and public employers in Massachusetts\, regularly advising employers on labor and employment law issues. He routinely appears before government agencies\, including the National Labor Relations Board\, the Department of Labor and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.  He has conducted more than 600 labor negotiations in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Moschos also represents clients in education matters throughout the Commonwealth\, affecting both public and private schools.\n\n \n\nHe participated in the drafting Massachusetts Labor Statute.  Mr. Moschos is a founder and former management chair of the State Joint Labor Management Committee (Dunlop Committee) and the Worcester County Bar Association?s Labor and Employment Law Committee\, and was awarded with the WCBA?s Distinguished Service Award  .\n\n \n\nHe is the recipient of the 2013 Cushing-Gavin Labor-Management Counsel Award and recognized by the International City Management Association (ICMA) with an Honorary Membership in ICMA. Which is awarded to private sector individuals for distinguished public service and contributions to the improvement and strengthening of local government.\n\n \n\nHuman Resource Executive Magazine and Lawdragon have recognized Mr. Moschos as a ?Top 500 Corporate Employment Attorneys in the United States? and elected him to the Human Resources Hall of Fame.\n\n \n\nMr. Moschos is recognized as The Best Lawyers in America  2021 in the fields of Employment Law ?
