Du Bois Afro-American Studies Department at UMass Amherst.\n\n\n\nHer scholarly interests include: Colonial New England\, African American history\, and the politics of Black hair. Dr. Mears was awarded an American Antiquarian Society fellowship for her outstanding research. Additionally\, Dr. Mears received the 2017 Diversity and Inclusion Award from Worcester State University for her work with the university's first generation students and students of color.
