DESCRIPTION:Thinking of starting a nonprofit organization? This course will help you determine if starting a nonprofit organization is right for you and what legal steps you need to take to get started! In this course\, we'll walk through the basic differences between nonprofit and for-profit models\, and explain the steps required to incorporate and register your nonprofit organization with the state of Massachusetts and to qualify for federal tax exemption with the IRS.\n\nHarvard Law School students Hayoung Lee and Elizabeth Turner will be conducting the presentation in conjunction with TLC Clinical Instructors: Carmen Halford and Patricia Alejandro (See attorney bios below).\n\nThe workshop will consist of a 1-hour virtual presentation\, including three five-minute interactive audience Q&A sessions.
