SUMMARY:WEC's 3rd Annual John E. Bassett Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Now in its fifteenth year of operation\, the Worcester Education Collaborative has earned a reputation as a knowledgeable contributor to the work of education and as a tenacious and critical friend of both our schools and our community one that keeps the needs of our children unrelentingly at the fore. We have placed a stake in the ground with work that falls into three broad areas: advocacy for and work toward education improvement and school and district accountability\; community awareness\, education\, and capacity building\; and educational achievement and attainment. We want to thank you for your continued support and commitment to giving toward the mission of Worcester Education Collaborative. \n\nOn Monday\, November 24th\, at the Beechwood Hotel\, we'll be celebrating this important milestone and recognizing our new Executive Director\, Dr. Jennifer Herring\, at our Third Annual Bassett Symposium. Our featured speaker at the gathering is Kwame Owusu-Kesse\, CEO of Harlem Children's Zone. Kwame\, a Worcester native\, is a much sought-after\, dynamic speaker whose organization's nationally recognized model of holistic support has made tremendous strides in the education of children in urban schools. WEC will recognize his leadership with the Apple of a Different Color award.\n\n**\n\n\n\nThis event is generously sponsored by The Hanover Insurance Group.
